Baby Shower #1

Sorry this post is coming to you a couple of weeks late. Some of my girl friends from college threw us an awesome baby shower on Aug. 22.

A big thanks to the girls who hosted the shower as well as to everyone who came. We got lots of great gifts for Baby Van! We are truly blessed to have friends in our lives who care about us and who are willing to help us out during this new phase of our lives!

This is the food we ate (delicious!):

For one of the games we played, you had to smell the baby food in the diaper and try to guess what it was.

For another game you had to taste the baby food and try to guess what it was. I've got to be honest with you, I don't know how babies eat that stuff. It was disgusting!

All of the girls at the shower wrote parenting advice to Luke and I. They are going to make this into a scrapbook for us. Very cute idea!!

23 Weeks

Sorry it has been so long since our last update. I have been feeling really good lately! Work is going well. I usually come home and take about a half hour nap after teaching all day. I'm sleeping okay at night, although I do toss and turn a lot.


The baby has been kicking/ moving like CRAZY!! I feel it all day long. There's even a few times that we've been able to SEE the baby moving!

New Due Date

So, we had what we thought was our 22 week appointment today. Turns out it was actually our 21 week appointment. I got demoted!! Our new due date is December 5 - bumped back one week!

All the baby's body parts and organs are looking great!

We did get a video of today's ultrasound, but we can't look at it because we don't want to know the sex of the baby. So....that means you don't get to see it either!! :) We did get some pictures to share with you....although not as many as most people get at this point, again...because we don't want to know the sex of the baby.


Some facts from today:
The baby weighs 1 lb and 2 oz
The baby's heart beat was 148
I have offically gained 12 pounds! Whoa!!

20 weeks

I felt Baby moving!!

This is Luke....

I just wanted all of you to know that on Saturday night I felt the baby move for the first time. It was such a cool experience. Every night since then before we go to bed I ask Laura if I can feel for baby. She lets me....

Our Baby's Moving!!

Yep....I have felt the baby move several times this week!! I thought I might have been feeling the baby move before, but I wasn't sure. But now, I'm for sure!! There's been a couple of times where I've had my hand on my belly and can feel the tiny movements on my hand....what a cool feeling!

Luke is still patiently waiting to feel the baby move. I'm sure it will be a couple more weeks until he gets to feel it.

18 weeks...

Ok. so I'm a week late on this post. Here's a picture of me at 18 weeks.

I also went to the doctor last week and had another ultrasound. The baby is doing great! We haven't scanned in the pictures yet, so those will come later. As of last week, I've gained 5 pounds (but I'm sure it's more now!). Also, almost all my cysts are gone!!! I only have one small cyst (in comparison to what I had - it's 1.5 cm in diameter) on my right ovary. We really have to give all the glory to God on this one! Thanks for all your prayers!
